PIRATES IN CARMARTHEN
PIRATES IN CARMARTHEN TOWN!
Sir Henry Vaughans Company of the Sealed Knot brought pirates to Carmarthen Park. We reenacted the events of 1644 where parliament troops, led by Colonel Poyer, came to the town with pirates in order to throw over the royalist garison within the town. With tensions in the town getting heated Captain Lucas, captain of the pirates, was shot on dark gate street.
The event we put on included this part of the town's history and some theatrics added in as well. In order to incorperate the shooting of the pirate captain, Waterstones allowed Vaughan's Musket Commander to fire a single shot out of their upstairs window over the square killing off Simon, playing Captain Lucas. A small scale skirmish in the town's park draw a close to the first day and we the main spectacles on the second day, where the pirates were finally wiped out by the military troops.
The weekend in that respect was brilliant for those musketeers playing pirates as they were able to skirmish until out of powder and then die a very dramatic death!
